Made In Italy offers 3 credit hours (ENGR 4060) with lecture topics taught by OSU Faculty,. For a two-week period you will be exposed to various facets that have and are contributing to creating the Made in Italy. From architecture to design, from historical site to contemporary marvels, from engineering to manufacturing, from cuisine to nature, you will experience it all. The trip will begin in Milan, move to Modena, Torino, and conclude in Ivrea, the experimental ground of industrialist Adriano Olivetti. In this town on the foot of the Alps, for the good part of the XX century, Olivetti created a laboratory for architects, urban planners, industrial designers, graphic designers, and engineers, as well as for psychologists, sociologists, and social science scientists with an obsession for design and social concerns. The town would emerge as a unique archetype of an industrial city, prompting UNESCO to include Ivrea to its World Heritage this past summer.
